What’s significant about the number 21?

We “dated” prior to December 2007. You know the kind- passing notes, sitting together in classes, and sharing lunch Freshman year of high school. As most young lovers do, we broke up at the end of the school year…

After multiple attempts from Chris to reignite our spark, Emily finally decided to take him up on the offer Junior year. Chris visited Emily at her school Christmas program. Emily gave Chris a Christmas card. When Chris got home he decided to send an email as her card was vague in what it said. After what seemed like forever, Emily sent Chris a response message, “I want to give it another shot.” (summarized)

The date was December 21st, 2007.

Two years later when Chris proposed it was December 21st, 2009. We knew the 21st would be the day we got married. We did not want to get married in the cold, a birthday month, or have a Spring wedding, so we chose September. We were married on a Sunday, which is the Christian calendar start of the week. We love to serve together and it “felt right” to start the week out in such a special way.

Each month as the 21st approaches we cannot help but think of how special the number twenty-one is to us. It will forever hold a special place in our hearts. We are already talking about celebrating our 21st dating anniversary in a special way. Eight more years to go…

Spend your life with the person who makes you smile daily.
